Here is the third-widest area flooded. The prefecture road No.10 is routes between Shiogama city and Watari town. I thought here is inland because road of embankment wall hides sight, I can't see seashore, I can see only rice field along the road, then Here is safe. later I understood here is distance about 2km far from sealine. 2km... tsunami invades 5km. I found farmer's market named "farm Sachi". "sachi" means "happiness" in japanese.

東日本大震災による津波浸水被害面積が、三番目に大きかった宮城県亘理町(わたりちょう)。宮城県道10号塩竃亘理線沿いにだいぶ内陸を走行していると思ったのだが、海岸から2キロ程度離れているだけだった。周囲の風景からは海岸線が全く見えない。そこで見つけたファーム幸という直売所。

Kanji charactor "調査" means "inspection" and "済" means "finished". Paper said Farm Sachi was flooded 1.0 meter from floor. I didn't know they open or not. I thought here is safe. No, Here is one of the tsunami flooded area.

浸水が1mもあった調査票が張られている。安全だと思ってましたが、間違ってました。さてさて、ファーム幸は営業しているのか。不明だった。

I found big advertisement wall along national road No.6. It says "Watari(town) market". I stopped to enter to Watari market.

同じ亘理町の国道6号沿いにデカデカとした看板の「わたり市場」が目についたので入ってみた。

Vegitables, fruits, they stacks foods in shortage situation.

野菜も果物も不足気味の中、なんとか品ぞろえされています。

This spinach come from neighbor city, Iwanuma.

隣町の岩沼市からも葉物も。

Garlic come out, It's allright. It can use for all cocking.

建設業、農業、仲卸など手広く事業をしているわたり市場の女将さん。自宅は常磐道の海岸側にあり全壊。それでもなんとか営業を継続しています。ご本人の写真載せちゃってゴメンなさい。

Rather than terrible disaster area, fortunately inside Matsusima gulf was not smashed. I found farmer & fishermans shop, talk to landlady. "No terrible things occured" She told me that the day what happened. Matsushima gulf was guarded by little and many islands which receives tsunami as buffer zone. It likes natural fort. She showed me with smile and talken brightly, but I saw the scene around that ships upside down, and ship ride onto cabin.

過酷な被災地と比較して、ここはまだ良かった方ですという意味で「ここはね、そんなに被害はなかったの」と直売所の女将が言いながら当日の話を説明してくれます。松島湾はいくつかの島が湾の入江にあり、津波の緩衝地帯となりこの地域を守ったということでしょう。自然の要塞です。それでも船が建物の上にのりあげたりひっくり返ったりという光景は通常の風景ではありませんね。

We got a comfort and energy if sea is silent.

穏やかな海は時にはこの上ない気持ち良さと元気を与えてくれます。

It is farmer & fisher market Nearby Gulf. They sell special rice which they allianced rice farmers.

湾のすぐそばにあった直売所「さん直屋」さん。契約農家に育ててもらって専用のお米まで売っています。

Ordinary they stacked agricultural product and seefood, but now seafood pool become empty because fisherman can't capture any seafood for his equipment was flooded. "Increasingly they can get fish and seafood". I felt her talking with that she was to patient facing the many severe painful, and she has knowledge and experience. She beleaves future.

通常ならば海産物も農産物も取り揃えてあるのですが、海のモノは壊滅的でお店には並んでいません。「いまは漁師さんが大変だからね。これから段々と増えていけば」という言葉には幾多の労苦を重ねて来た経験と、きっと復活するであろうとの希望、信念を感じました。

帰り際、女将さんに「ほれ。これもっていきな」と、きっと震災が影響して窪んだ缶コーヒーをいただきました。逆だろと。俺が元気もらってしまった

全国直売所研究会総会@中野サンプラザ 基調講演

We invited Mr.Takamitsu Kohzuma to our regular general meeging of the institute of All Japan Farmer's market (named Chokubaiken) in 2011/05/17. Mr.Kohzuma performed keynote speech with special report about "Radiation and Dining table". Mr.Kohzuma is professor of Ibaraki University, and he belongs to "Frontier Research center for Applied Atomic Sciences".

本年の全国直売所研究会総会で茨城大学大学院高妻孝光(こうづまたかみつ)教授に「放射線と食生活環境」と題してキーノートスピーチをしていただいた。

Our Chokubaiken campanies collaborates to the significant experiences for the University managed Sciences. The experience outputs amazing result about foods and agricultural work. This resolve is public but not announced widely, I couldn't explain on this blog because this is holded by both Prof.Kohzuma and Mizuho-no-Muraichiba. You are able to know if you join our organization (Chokubaiken). We are proud of this collaborations.

食卓に科学が活かされる大学の研究事例に直売所研究会の直売所が協働。食について驚きの研究がもたらされた。高妻教授とみずほの村市場(直売所研究会)との成果につき公開は差し控えます。

Simply speaking, technical method descend that it success to decrease radiation level. Prof.Kohzuma says that it is "Technical half-life". Well known half-life is physical half-life and biological half-life. Both half-life on a technical one decline effectively radiation level more lower. It is unofficial and not public until today's speech. Because Mizuho-no-muraichiba and farmer come up that prof.Kohzuma can stack a data. Prof.Kohzuma prepare to announce in conference for the Nuclear Society.

We hold press conference about "Chokubaijo Kohshien 2011" at Nakano Sun Plaza in Tokyo 2011/05/17. "Chokubaijo" means Farmer's market, "Kohshien" means name of baseball studium. It is the most famous studium in japan for high school student fights baseball tournament every year. "Kohshien" stands for meaning of national competition. We announced about this event by executive committee for chokubaijo kohshien 2011. All member comes for press conference far away from tokyo. I was to moderate press conference when I was designated to be moderator by chief secretariate.

直売所甲子園2011の開催記者会見を中野サンプラザにて開催。直売所甲子園2011実行委員会メンバーが勢ぞろい。急きょ司会進行をする事になった私。

15 companies come to our press conference. They asked us many question.

集まったメディアは約15社。たくさんの質問が寄せられた。

Next event is regular general meeting for our organization. We managed the meeting.

会見終了後に、つづいて全国直売所研究会の総会。記者会見の報告も。

Mr.Araya -Managing director of J.A. north iwate,he came from one of the stricken prefecture- told us circumstances around farmer and farmer's market in north iwate pref -Especially Kuji city, Miyako city, Tarou town-.

被災地近隣の直売所、岩手県二戸市JA北岩手常務理事の荒谷氏が久慈、宮古、田老の現状を報告する。

Mr.Takeda -Representative farmer's market in Fukushima pref- told us that his home was smashed by tsunami. But after Disaster next day, customers rush to his market. He has providing vegetables since that day. He thanks us to assistances.

福島県の武田氏はご自身の自宅は全壊。震災翌日から直売所に利用者が押し寄せ営業を継続。それまで昨年対比130%の推移だったが震災後は120%台に。それでもスゴイ

He is Mr.Hoshiya -he belongs to TTC INC., They managed market in Kanto (include Tokyo,Ibaraki) area-. Their company was involved with nuclear fall materials, Customers decrease come to their shop. He asked for ours to help with something to buy and sell.

那須のアウトレットパークに入っている㈱TTCの星谷氏と長田氏が放射能の風評被害に巻き込まれ「こりゃ困ったぜ」と各直売所に協力を訴える

We gonna dive in Chokubaijo Kohshien. It has special significance.

このような状況の中で、今年は「直売所甲子園2011」を開催する。なぜなら特別な意義があるからです。

It might come from warehouse in port. Seashore holds many wheel tires. I thought so... But here isn't seashore. It shows us vast rice field at a time in the past. Field was invaded sand with rubbles. It extended along the coastline. Sand piles aporox over 50cm. Invasion by Sand with rubbles spread to the Fukushima Pref. not only this rice field.

埠頭の倉庫から流されてきたのだろう。タイヤが砂浜に散乱しているのだ、と思っていた。砂浜じゃないんです。ここは田んぼなんです。ここは仙台市の海岸線の広大な田んぼで10町歩程も砂に侵略された状態だ。海岸沿いの田は砂浜と化して様々な瓦礫が埋まる。その砂の層はおよそ50センチ以上もあるのだ。写真に収められたこの田だけでなく福島県まで延々とこの状態が続く。

Here is Rice field too. Sea water might pool at a point in a field, it corrade and fluidize sand like a crater. You can see crater like this in many places. Sea water didn't seep underground, it should keep stay on long time because bottom of rice field was covered with soil clay.

ここも田んぼ。海水の集まる箇所があるようで、溜まる海水はその場所の砂を流動化させ、まるでクレーターのような姿を晒しています。この状態があちこちで見られます。田んぼ底の粘土質により地下に浸透せず、いつまでもそこに留まり続ける。

The depth of sand layer was piled up about 30-50cm. It is difficult to throw sand away because of huge sand. This circumstance exists vast near on the east side of Joban toll road, Sendai Tobu toll road, Rikuzen coast road line.

深さは約30~50cmもある。量が多すぎるためにこの砂を除去し土壌改良することは困難だろう。常磐道、仙台東部道、陸前浜街道の東側はどこまでもこの状態だ

ここから産土の恵みを享受することはできるだろうか

One of the most important port of Japan, Shiogama port. "Shio" means Salt, "gama" means huge steam pan. long time ago, many people produce salt from sea water in here named "mojio". "mojio" means "salt made from sea weed".

国内有数の漁港、塩竃港「塩釜」という字の方が一般的。

Some people stand to revive industrial activities in this tsunami stricken area. The pictures are scene of the people mend a broken steel wire.

港湾に男達が集まり、ワイヤーケーブルを修復している。これも復興に向けた活動の一つ

Increasingly water fill into rice fields. To fill rice field with water needs discreet points. Because water channel was broken, and existant under 0 sea level area, sea water is leaved in the fields. Simply they want to put away sea water from their field, but to fill water causes submerging rice field under the sea level field. Water feed needs Many check points, It's take a long time to fill up rice field.

田にはやっと水が入った。灌漑がダメージを受け水路も壊れ排水路も壊れ、上流から徐々に水位を確認しながらでないと、海抜マイナスゼロメートル地帯が水没する為、修復しながら水を流す。例年より相当遅い田植えだ。

The shop -Seven-Eleven Oshiro 5 Chome- locates Between Shichi-ga-hama town and Tagajo city. This store started to sell in disaster area with such farmar's market way. They stands a tent and distributed many product in a specific vihcles because former shop was attacked and broke down with the quake. Money checking registerd with handy terminals. I think that it is the most evolutional sales way.

七ヶ浜町と多賀城市との境界近辺にある大代5丁目。このセブンイレブンの役割は大きい。元の店は営業できずにいたが、店先にテントを張りゴンドラを載せた専用トラックで供給。勘定決済はハンディターミナルで行っている。自分の目には最も進んだ商業形態に映った。来てもらう常設店舗でなく、どこにでも常設店舗が可能だからだ。

"This selling way starts up from here". This selling way is brought to other area from here. It seems to farmer's market.

「この形態で営業した最初のセブンイレブン店がこの店です」ここから各地に波及していった。見た目は直売所と同じだ。この逞しさには感服するばかりだ。

The marketing of the convenience store has 4 principles. One of the principle is "we must suite to needs rapidly". And proper buyers ordinarly choose products for "use or eat while 30 minites from point of parchase". This product line up is not "use/eat in 30 minites", but must be most needed product in this region.

コンビニエンスストアの原点となった商品採用のコンセプトは「30分以内に消費する商品」だ。この品ぞろえからは考えられないが、これこそがこの地域で必要とされている物だと言う事。

Ishinomaki Farmer's market in Higashi-matsubara not able to open. I beleave this market must be revive. It says "I'm sorry for shop closing for a while. We are going to re-open between May and June"

東松島市にあるJA石巻の直売所。浸水地域。営業再開は難しかっただろう。早い復活を望みます。

Sand mixed soil on Parking was carried by Tsunami. It is Mark of invasion by sea water. Don't give up.

駐車場の土砂に津波の痕跡が見て取れる。がんばれ菜っちゃん市場!

It is normal sense that we shot never seen before. I would like to choice a photo theme "strong people and recovery", but I have taken pictures of the town situation with sufficiency.

自分の町には無いものに注目してしまう。抗する事ができない。「逞しさ」を取り上げたかったのだが、町の置かれている状況にばかり注目してしまう。あかんあかん。

Through the central Ishinomaki city, we entered next town Onagawa. Onagawa town locates at root Oshika peninsula. Earthquake moved Oshika peninsula to east-south-east for 5 meters. And this area sunken approximately 1 meter as subsidence. Onagawa town stands O meter on a sea level, It is too difficult to live here.

石巻の湾外の壊滅地帯を通り抜け、女川に入る。牝鹿半島は地震で約5メートル東南東に移動した。さらに約1メートル沈降し、海抜ゼロメートル以下の地帯となっている。この地域に住む事は難しいだろう。

I can't understand what it is when I see it at a grance. Take a mean while, I understood that it is Basement, and I'm afraid of tsunami power. Stricken this area has nuclear power plant.

これを見た時に何か分らなかった。建築基礎の裏側だと気づいた時は津波パワー桁違いの恐ろしさをあらためて感じた。津波の直撃を受けたこの湾の突端には原子力発電所があるわけ。

Nuclear Power plant locates 15km distance from Onagawa station with 40 minites drive by automobile beyond some mountains and valleys narrow road, I could see the road was broken. Fortunately Onagawa nuclear power plant is able to continue to operate through the attack by tsunami, they prepare the risk about the road to be severed.

津波の被害を逃れたその原子力発電所に行くには山あいの道路を通っていかなくてはならない。その道路は土砂崩れで崩壊しそうな箇所がいくつもある。原子力発電所はかろうじて運転できているかもしれないが、陸上交通の寸断の方が危険だったりして。

Tome city, Miyagi Pref.

登米市

Here is Tome City. Tome is famous by rice, about "Tome Rice". And Many farmer's market stand in region. Most stricken area, Ishinomaki city ask for Tome city about distribution a rice against food shotage, respond farmers in Tome carried tons of rice to Ishinomaki. We found farmer's market in Tome, nakada area.

登米市は米の名産地ゆえ、地名に"米"の字がついている。最もひどく被災した石巻からの要請で登米から数十俵の米を輸送した農業団体もある。登米の米「登米米」または「登米ライス」が有名だ。そして登米市は直売所も多い。その登米市中田地区にある直売所に立ち寄る。震災直後に停電し数日間営業できずにいた。

Here was Nakada Town, before combine a local gov't each other. Farmer's market was managed by farmers themselves not agricaltural organization or local gov't.

合併する前には中田町という名前だった場所で、その地区に住む農家が主体となって直売所を運営している。農協や行政が運営している直売所ではなく、農家自身の経営による直売所だ。

Mr.Chiba (Vice manager) says us "We are not victim, We support regional people with products".

「自分達は被災したわけではない。地域の方を支えて行く」という副店長の千葉さんの言葉が心強い。
